SPGamesX.Com
The End.
It has been one year since SPGamesX.Com was launched. I hate to say it,
but it was pretty much a failure. A lot of this has to do with my slow
speed of building up the site, and a lot had to do with site visitors
wanting content but not submitting any. But the reasons why the site
failed are not important anymore. The point is, SPGamesX.Com is closing
its doors. I payed the money for this past year to get this site
running. I knew my time left in SPG wouldn't be long. That is why
Stanster was supposed to make the payment for this year. Unfortunately
for reasons beyond our control, Stanster does not have the funds at the
moment to make the renewal payment, and I don't have the money to cover
for him this time around. Unless by some act of God we get our renewal
money within the next couple of days, SPGamesX.Com will be shut down
and terminated.
I'd like to thank those of you who supported this website through out
the past year by submitting content and what have you. I'd like to
thank everyone who took the time to visit this site. I'd also like to
thank everyone who supported the SPGMB while it lasted.
SPG wouldn't be what it is without all the games that have been made.
To those game creators, I tip my hat to you all. Just because this site
is practically done for doesn't mean that you can't keep making games.
Forget what anyone thinks of our so called fan games. If you still make
SPGs, show the Click gaming world what you're made of, and submit your
game to a click site such as The Daily Click or the new Click Cafe.
There is still SPGArchives.Com for what it is worth. Even though it
doesn't have the community aspect that this place had, it has the
games, and that is good enough for me. Best of luck with your site
there Spratt.
I'd like to thank Jon Robson, Scott Ewart, and Andrew Rumney for their
work and efforts on SPy2. No matter what anyone says, it was worth the
wait. Please support the SPy2 team by visiting the Y-Institute Website.
I'd like to thank Stanster for helping out here where he could. Life
gets the better of you a lot of the time, but hopefully we havent seen
the end of Stanster and his games. I'd like to thank Lee for his
contributions to SPG with SPGtv. It was simply brilliant Lee, and even
though the SPG community seems to have died off, hopefully SPGtv will
live on. If there was one person who was always consistant with making
games to lift our spirits, it was Beamer. A special thanks to you
little buddy for cranking out those games, no matter what anyone
thought of them. I'm sure you'll be keeping your game status up. Most
of all I'd like to thank Junkman. Our favorite Canadian has always been
by my side and has supported me in whatever the hell I tried to do with
this site. He is one hell of a game creator. But sure to continue to
support him and his website. If there was anyone I missed, you know who
you are, and thank you as well.
I'd like to give a special shout out to Sam from SouthParkX.Net.
Without Sam, we might not have even made it this far. Additional thanks
goes to Brandon who passed on such things as the SPGftp and the massive
cheats and codes list to us. Thanks to Infinity for re-uploading all of
those games to the FTP the second time around. Shout outs go to Matt
Crosta and Nomad. Without these two, like them or not, there would be
no SPG. And of course thanks to anyone who ever made a SPG, because we
couldn't have SPG without the games. Thanks to Joe "Polygon" Dixon and
Subwoofer for their major contributions as well.
Special thanks goes out to our great host, Smoovenet. Chris and the
rest of the crew at Smoovenet are nothing but high class, and it is a
great deal if you're looking for hosting.
It was been an interesting year for SPGamesX.Com and SPG in general.
Unfortunately, as the end of SPGamesX.Com comes, I fear for the end of
SPG. If this is the end, it has been one hell of a ride for this
community. I wouldn't trade any of the hours wasted away here for
anything else, because I wouldn't have met so many other great people
otherwise.
Don't forget to keep supporting the reason all of us came here in the
first place. That reason is none other than the TV show South Park. Its
still a damn great show and don't you forget it. If you wanna break it
down, none of us would be here if it weren't for the genious of Matt
Stone and Trey Parker.
I suppose I've rambled on long enough. Once again, thank you everyone.
Keep in touch, and good luck on all your future projects, SPG related
or not.
~Dave
