That's right - May is just two days away, so Issue #3 is out! Click here to download. Wink

Here's what the issue features:

PREVIEW: South Park: Omega Project 2 (Stanster)
ARTICLE 1: Game-Making Contest #2 (Beamer)
ARTICLE 2: Happy Productins Examined (IngramJ)
IM PRANKS: Jzayed (Beamer)
LIST: Top Five SPGtv Shows (Knuckles owns GC)
REVIEW: SPGtv 303 (Rodrinator)
INTERVIEW: IngramJ (Beamer)
TUTORIAL: Strafing (The Dude)
DEMO: Midworld II (Shade)

IngramJ, Knuckles owns GC, Rodrinator, The Dude, Shade and RFI (for his midis) have all recieved a point for their contributions to this issue. Special thanks to Stanster too for his preview, and to Junkman for compiling the issue in MMF and putting up with the stupid mistakes I made when putting this together. Tongue

Anyway, I'm particularly proud of this issue - it's certainly our best demo to date, and there's a lot of other good stuff too. Check it out and post your feedback in here. Smiley

Nice work, Beamer. Found a couple of interesting bugs with the demo - but considering its original window size Im surprised you managed to pull it off in the SPGBM format.

Good one, hombre.

PREVIEW: Looks awesome, although I was sure the original release date was earlier than that.
ARTICLE 1: My favourite game was Escape the Jungle, even if it is pretty hard.
ARTICLE 2: Well, there's no point in reviewing my own submission is there?
IM PRANKS: Very funny. Originally I was the prank victim but Beamer lost the chat log.
LIST: Not quite the order I expected. How come SP Claymation and Sketch Park aren't on the list?
REVIEW: Well reviewed.
INTERVIEW: Again, not going to review something to do with me.
TUTORIAL: Lots of detail there. May use the tutorial, though I've never tried using strafing before.
DEMO: I didn't play it much because it was pretty awkward.

Awesome job, Beamer. Wink

And whoa... South Park How To? listed third in the Top 5 SPGtv Shows list?! And it topped The Thickest Shit? I mean, I think SPHT is not even nearly as good at TTS, but it's certainly cool that atleast someone has faith in my show, too.

SHIT, I just noticed a problem with the Demo - if you don't press Space during the "A Shade Game" frame, you'll be taken to one of the articles instead (the "jump to frame" events conflicted when I pasted it into the mag). Junkman, any chance you can fix this?

EDIT: Nevermind, it's been fixed. Anyone who downloaded before May should download it again, though. Just to be sure.

It's a Stanster game. Go figure. Tongue

Actually, I pranked Jzayed before you, so even if I didn't lose the log, yours wouldn't have been included until Issue #4.

REVIEW: Well reviewed.
It was decent, but it had the usual problems with Rodrinator's reviews, in that he just summarises too much. Like, he said "The show's graphics are really bad, and it's really short, but I personally found it funny" - there's no explanation of what's wrong with the show's graphics, what he found funny about it, or why. I would've preferred something much more in-depth, to be honest.

DEMO: I didn't play it much because it was pretty awkward.
Yeah, a lot of that was due to inserting it into SPGBM - some frames didn't link properly, some events went a little weird with the TGF-to-C&C-to-MMF conversion, etc. I've played a beta though, and trust me, the game itself does kick a whole lot of ass.

I don't agree with the list either, but I must say, Knuckles did a damn fine job summarising it. We're considering making this his own segment for the mag - it's nice to have a non-game-maker perspective on it, too. Personally, I've have ranked TTS higher (mainly for the visuals) and included SP Claymation on the list, but oh well. I got #1, so I'm not complaining. Cheesy

I was actually thinking of doing that anyway, since SPG Survivor would be starting later that month... But if I do, don't do an interview with Rodrinator for his SPGtv show. Two interviews with the same person coming out the same month? A bit much.

Yeah, but you've still got a long way to go if you wanna be at the top. Rodrinator shot up after all those reviews. Wink

SP Midworld will be a lot better explained when I release it. It was a bit last minute when I decided to hand it in to Beamer. But at least a part of it is out there for people to check out so Im glad there was an opening.

I'll do a proper preview of it sometime.

So, what's the game's name officially? I've heard Midworld, Midworld II, Midworld III, SP Midworld, Demonik II, Demonik Midworld, SP Demonik, etc.

Pick a name and stick with it! Tongue

shite! shite! shite! sorry mate. Ok lemme work it out now...

THIS one is called... SP Midworld (because it contains SP characters). You can REFER to it as MW2 (its place in the series)

The game before this was Demonik. Not using that name anymore so it becomes MW1 (being redone with the MW2 feel)

MW3 comes after this one (MW2). In the long run I will remove every trace of SP from MW2 and rework the script so that in the end the entire series is more or less original.

sorry for being indecisive Smiley  hope its cleared up.

Overall, this is a pretty good issue. My thoughts:

South Park: Omega Project 2 (Stanster) - This game looks quite promising, although it's a bit disappointing to hear this may be Stanster's last SPG. I'd certainly look into any other themed click games he makes, as with his skills I'm sure it would be fun.

Game-Making Contest #2 (Beamer) - Very well-written summary. I couldn't even be arsed to write that much for school...  Tongue

Happy Productins Examined (IngramJ) - Nice write-up. It's obvious that you did your homework on the subject before doing it, that's worth some credibility.

IM PRANKS: Jzayed (Beamer) - Pretty funny, although Jzayed sort of went right with it... "omg ur a hacker".

REVIEW: SPGtv 303 (Rodrinator) - While it could have assessed the shows in a bit more detail, the review was not too bad overall.

INTERVIEW: IngramJ (Beamer) - Interesting interview. I knew for sure that IngramJ deserved to be here after finding out he cried a little after his ban... that's some true dedication! Tongue

TUTORIAL: Strafing (The Dude) - Didn't bother with this one, as it wouldn't have made a tidbit of sense to me.

DEMO: Midworld II (Shade) - It wasn't terrible, I'm just not all that fond of demos. I'll certainly look into when it's released in full, though.

As for my list, I'll admit I slipped up by putting SP:HT before TTS. I wasn't really sure which shows everyone here favored, so just went with it. Claymation wasn't there because even though it clearly had a lot of work put into it (anyone who's done a stop-animation movie would know how long it takes...), it's not really all that funny and I was going by what's most entertaining to watch. As for Sketch Park, I'm actually not sure why I didn't add it... blame the crack for that one.  Cheesy I promise that if I do another of these it'll be a thought out a lot better.

Overall, I feel with the amount of work put into this project from every contributing member, it turned out really successful. I'm definitely looking forward to the next issue.

PREVIEW: South Park: Omega Project 2 (Stanster)
Interesting, though a little anoying to hear the screen will be even smaller than last time, will definatly play it though when its out...

ARTICLE 1: Game-Making Contest #2 (Beamer)
You preety much summed it all up well, lets hope the next one goes better than the last one...

ARTICLE 2: Happy Productins Examined (IngramJ)
Nice ideas into it HP's, good article...

IM PRANKS: Jzayed (Beamer)
dident really get this, but then i dont find IM pranks funny unless you get some one to really believe something...

LIST: Top Five SPGtv Shows (Knuckles owns GC)
Felt this one was a bit of a personal opinion one, not much depth into the shows them self...

REVIEW: SPGtv 303 (Rodrinator)
reviewing hard to do if its on a small subjet, this did ok...

INTERVIEW: IngramJ (Beamer)
Interesting...

TUTORIAL: Strafing (The Dude)
Well i made it but i'ld like to thank beamer for adding a bit more detail to the pictures...

DEMO: Midworld II (Shade)
nice, but a few things, such as the fighting need changing a little since you cant overlap an enemy and hit them, you sort of have to hit them at the side, plus in the 2nd stage i couldent move diagonnaly, dident play much more after the start of the 3rd stage, and stan dident die when his health ran out...

Though for the next south park gaming bi mothly, could i get a none full screen version since if anything goes on while im running it i end up with a small screen and have to quit it to do anything else...

The issue was originally done windowed, but I got Junkman to make it full-size since that's how the first two issues were done, and it made things like the Tutorial pictures easier to read.

I suppose we could add a resize option at the start, though. Thanks for your in-depth review, by the way. You get a Point. Wink
